Description

In conformance with established policies and procedures, and under general supervision of the Current Operations Supervisor, the Current Tax Clerk will research inquiries for customers, process tax payments, research discrepancies in payments, names, and addresses, and assist the Delinquent Tax Department upon request. Bilingual employees will be required to utilize their language skills as necessary.SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES: 1. Under general supervision and in conformance with established policies and procedures, process current/delinquent payments and forward items to cashier or appropriate department.2. Greet and provide assistance with resolving inquiries in a professional and courteous manner to the public in person or through telephone conversation. 3. Research accounts where discrepancies in statements and checks occur, and forward to appropriate department according to established policies and procedures.4. Compute penalties, interest, and cost due on delinquent accounts.5. Type and mail out correspondence letters for accounts researched through received payments that include, but are not limited to refunds, short to pay, and paid accounts etc.6. Research, type claims, process, and mail out correspondence on accounts that have been paid in error.7. Process weeds, nuisance abatements and special assessments certified by the cities within the county.8. Process trust deposits and retrieve monies from trust deposits.9. Prepare and record appropriate information on required forms for manufactured homes being sold, foreclosed or moved. This will include verifying any delinquencies for prior years, processing payment on trust deposit for estimated taxes, issuing decals, and paying mobile home taxes from trust after the certification of taxes. 10. Process monies for plat escrow deposit, research, balance, and pay plat escrow accounts after certification of taxes.11. Endorse delinquent taxes onto tax certificates, post payment information in appropriate sale books, and process redemption of tax certificates.12. Upon request of customer, research accounts and issue certifications of taxes paid and/or unpaid as prescribed by established policies and procedures.13. Prepare and process incoming and outgoing mail, deliver mail to the appropriate departments, and maintain postage.14. Research returned mail to update names and addresses, scan, and file accordingly.15. Research the tax rolls for certifications to complete requests for liquor licenses and Farm Exempt forms.16. Research accounts generated from delinquent due reports daily, for removal of delinquent tags and possible mailing.17. Process all Lockbox rejects, to include mail, check rejects and Lockbox exceptions daily until Lockbox is closed. Please note that certain weeks during the year have been designated as blackout periods, during which vacation time will not be permitted. Some overtime might be required. Must be dependable and punctual.

Experience

Must have computer and calculator skills, type minimum forty (40) wpm, experience and knowledge in the area.
