Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program, sponsored by Learning-For-Life,
for young men and women who are 14 years of age and have completed the eighth grade, or are between the ages of 15 and 21.
Law Enforcement Explorer posts help youth gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities.
For young men and women who are interested in the field of law enforcement, exploring offers experiential learning
with lots of fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.
The Sheriff’s Explorer Program was implemented in 1997 to provide a positive outlet for young men and women interested in a law enforcement career.
This program provides an opportunity to experience law enforcement from a hands-on approach and afford our deputies a chance to interact with young men and women in our community.
Explorers participate and receive training in all aspects of operations within the Sheriff’s Office.
The Explorer Post is active in the community by raising money for Special Olympics of Oklahoma every year. We also participate in multiple safety fairs throughout the year and assist with safety and security at the Oklahoma State Fair each year.
Recruitment
The Oklahoma County Sheriffs Office Explorer Post #2199 is currently recruiting members.
We are asking parents, teachers, counselors and staff to assist us in informing high school students about our community-based program in hopes that students will visit our program this fall.
Our program offers a dynamic variety of topics that will expose students to many fields of law enforcement so they may explore the career opportunities or just learn about the law enforcement field and practices.
We offer other activities such as leadership development skills, social and outdoor activities as well as tours to facilities.
